ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team outlasted Defiance for a 3-2 victory during WHAC action Friday night. Set scores were 26-24, 22-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-10.
Devyne Eisenhauer led the Saints with 23 kills, 19 digs and five blocks. She planted four kills in the decisive fifth set.
Sarai Villegas added 12 kills while Bianca Hobson totaled 11 kills and six blocks.
Courtney Johnson made 30 assists and finished with 18 digs. Mallory Johnson set 20 assists.
Jessica Holsapple, Mya Krohn and Ella Swoish served four aces apiece. Krohn led the back-line with 32 digs while Swoish and Holsapple dug 19 and 10, respectively.
Siena Heights trailed 9-3 during the opening set, which featured nine tie scores. The Saints held set point twice before taking the 1-0 match lead.
The host Yellow Jackets answered with wins in the next two sets. SHU nearly came back from a 17-9 deficit in the second and then battled through 13 ties -- the final knot at 23-23 -- before DC went up 2-1.
The teams volleyed through nine ties during the fourth -- the last one coming at 13-13. That was part of a 5-0 Saints stretch which had SHU take the lead for good after trailing 13-11.
In the fifth, the teams were square at 3-3 before a 3-0 Siena Heights surge put the Saints ahead through the finish. Eisenhauer had two kills in that stretch. She ended the contest with another kill.
Siena Heights will wrap up its regular season on Saturday with a 2 p.m. WHAC match at Lourdes.
