Late Two-Pointer Sends SHU Football Past #24 Robert Morris
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. -- Running back Dwayne Aaron II had a pair of touchdowns while fellow running back Travis Damron converted a go-ahead two-point conversion as the Siena Heights football team defeated 24th-ranked Robert Morris (Ill.), 22-21, in a Mid-States Football Association Mideast League matchup on Saturday.

The victory was the Saints' first win over an NAIA-ranked opponent. The Damron run was the first successful two-point conversion in SHU history after five attempts.

Aaron finished with 23 carries for 101 yards. He ran in one score and received a pass for another. Defensive backDeShawn Gilbert also scored for SHU via interception return.

Quarterback Matt King completed 13 of 21 passes for 113 yards, one TD and one interception while tight end Donovan Campbell made three receptions for 46 yards. Campbell eclipsed the 100-mark for career receptions; he now has 101.

The Saints (5-5, 2-4) trailed 21-7 before scoring Aaron's TDs on back-to-back second-half possessions.

After RMU built its 14-point lead, SHU answered on its next drive. The Saints finished out a 13-play, 79-yard drive in the third quarter, culminating with a seven-yard run.

The SHU defense then forced a punt on RMU's next possession to set up the Saints' go-ahead drive.

Siena Heights ran 17 plays and gained 97 yards while using up 9:39 of the clock. The Saints gained 60 yards on the ground, courtesy of four different runners, before ending with a 11-yard pass from King to Aaron.

Then, the Saints lined up for the extra-point kick before shifting to a run formation that had Damron scoring the two-point run.

SHU stopped the next RMU possession on the Eagles' 40-yard-line before running the clock down to three seconds left. The hosts were unable to score on the game's final play -- a lateral-filled affair that ended with a fumble recovery by SHU defensive lineman C.J. Marious.

Marious and fellow DL Jordan Martin were the top SHU tacklers, contributing 6 1/2 stops each. Defensive back Fred Butler also had an interception.

Siena Heights fell behind early on a 42-yard touchdown run by RMU running back LaMont Wims before Gilbert had an 18-yard interception return later in the first quarter.

Eagle quarterback Matt Westerkamp had TD passes of 20 and nine yards to DeShawn Weaver and Sean Zingshiem to build the 21-7 RMU lead.

Wims had 32 carries for 169 yards for RMU while linebacker Dontaye Johnson had an interception.
